Webinar: Understanding Global Warming Potential

Cattle Council of Australia will be co-hosting a webinar on understanding GWP* for the Australian/New Zealand audience with the Global Round Table for Sustainable Beef.

In March 2020, 16 organisations from the UK and NZ formally requested the IPCC to evaluate “the more accurate global warming potential (GWP) metric of GWP* to measure the contribution of short-lived greenhouse gases to global warming”.  GWP* was developed by Oxford University as an alternative way to calculate the impact of greenhouse gases. 

Join us for an overview of GWP* from one of the original authors, followed by a panel discussion exploring the pros and cons of GWP* for Australian and New Zealand red meat industries.

The webinar will be held on Wednesday 27th May from 12pm to 1pm EST will bring Australian and New Zealand perspectives to the global discussion on GWP* - an alternative metric for estimating global warming potential of short-lived climate pollutants such as methane.
