Consensus on beef industry structure
Representatives of the Australian beef industry have today met with Minister Joyce to put forward their recommendation for future beef industry representation.
The contingent, including Howard Smith and other industry stakeholders met with Minister Joyce in Canberra after gaining support from other key industry stakeholders.
Cattle Council President, Howard Smith, said the meeting with the Minister was a good opportunity to put forward a united position on behalf of Australian beef producers.
The united position was developed through consultation with all State Farming Organisations, the Northern Pastoral Group, the Australian Beef Association, the Australian Meat producers Group, Concerned Cattlemen and other red meat peak councils.
“We believe the recommended structure provides an opportunity for all Australian beef producers to be represented and have their voices heard, along with ensuring that the organisation is adequately funded.
“We look forward to working with the Minister and industry stakeholders throughout the implementation period,” Mr Smith said.
The proposal put to Minister Joyce for the cattle industry representative structure is available here.
