Cattle Council heads west

29 January 2017

Cattle Council of Australia is in Western Australia this week, meeting with cattle producers, industry representatives and stakeholders to discuss issues relevant to the WA market as well as broader national and international issues.

Cattle Council CEO Duncan Bremner said he was looking forward to learning more about the issues affecting the state.

"Western Australia is a significant and diverse contributor to the Australian cattle industry and I’m looking forward to spending some time talking face to face with our members and producers of the region”, Mr Bremner said.

“Issues such as local market conditions; research, development and adoption; live export and the Trans-Pacific Partnership will be high on our list of topics to discuss,” Mr Bremner said.

"I look forward to learning from all the organisations and stakeholders I am meeting with and understanding how at Cattle Council we can help our members with their concerns.”

The meetings will commence with the Western Australian Meat Industry Authority at their weekly sales at Muchea Livestock Centre, north east of Perth.

Mr Bremner will meet with representatives of the WA Farmers Federation, the Pastoralists & Graziers Association of WA, and the WA Parliament in Perth before heading to Broome and Port Hedland to meet with the Kimberly Pilbara Cattlemen's Association.

Mr Bremner will also visit pastoralists at their stations between Broome and Port Hedland before meeting with representatives from the Northern Territory Cattlemen's Association, Meat & Livestock Australia, and the Australian Veterinary Association in Port Hedland at a meeting facilitated by the KPCA.
