Rising Champions applications closing soon

Young beef producers from around the nation have until Friday June 17 to make a difference to their industry by entering the Cattle Council of Australia’s 2016 NAB Agribusiness Rising Champion initiative.
The initiative aims to inspire, empower and support young people who are passionate about the Australian beef industry, and to provide them with an opportunity to be directly involved.
The award, in its sixth year, caters for 18 to 35-year-olds and provides the winner with the opportunity to develop knowledge, political acumen and leadership skills to be a young champion in the beef industry.
The initiative drew applicants from around the nation last year with fourth generation Victorian farmer, Kevin Stark, of Lake Mundi, announced as the winner.
State finalists will attend a three-day program in Canberra on August 22-24, covering leadership skills and personal development. This will include a session with life coach Catherine Marriott on effective communication, leadership and relationship building.
Finalists will receive public speaking tuition and a follow-up mentoring session with Ms Marriott after the Rising Champion training program.
They will network with key decision makers from the Federal Department of Agriculture and be taken on a private tour of parliament house as well as get the opportunity to sit in on one of the Cattle Council committees to see how decisions are made within industry
The national winner will be announced at a gala dinner at the National Museum of Australia, Canberra, on August 24.
The 2016 NAB Agribusiness Rising Champion will attend the International Beef Alliance conference in New Zealand on October 18-21, 2016.
The runner-up will receive a scholarship to the Marcus Oldham Rural Leadership program provided by the Australian Beef Industry Foundation.
