Appointment of Agriculture Commissioner Positive Step for ACCC

Cattle Council welcomes the appointment of the new agriculture commissioner to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission.

The appointment made by the Agriculture Minister today highlights the importance of maintaining a transparent and competitive supply chain that benefits all industry members equally.

Cattle Council has been supportive of the creation of the role and welcomes Mick Keogh to his new position.

“Mick has a long association with the Cattle Council and we are glad to see someone with his experience selected for such an important role” said Howard Smith, Cattle Council President.

“The ACCC will benefit greatly from the insights that Mick can offer” said Mr Smith.

Cattle Council has previously called on Government to expand the ACCC’s presence within the industry. The appointment of Mick Keogh is a positive step towards industry members being sure of getting a fair go.

“I’m sure Mick’s going to do well and I wish him all the best in the new job” said Mr Smith.
