Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) is responsible for developing national food standards. FSANZ has recently initiated a review into Food Labelling in Australia.
Cattle Council has submitted a discussion paper to the Government highlighting industry’s views and concerns around food labelling as it relates to beef in Australia.
Cattle Council supports truth in labelling and the provision of accurate information for consumers to make informed decisions about the food they purchase and consume. The main area of interest for the Cattle Council in the submissions is the treatment of country of origin labelling in the food standards code and ensuring a cost effective outcome for producers.
Cattle Council will monitor recommendations from the food labelling law and policy review for any potential impacts on Australia’s beef cattle producers.
