Meet our President

Howard Smith

Howard Smith was elected president of Cattle Council of Australia in 2014. Howard has been an advocate for the beef sector for nearly a decade through his work with the council on the marketing and environment committees; his current role as director on the Red Meat Advisory Council; and his previous roles as chair of the Agforce cattle board and former president of Parthenium Action Group.

Howard has been a driving force behind the development of the Pasturefed Cattle Assurance System and is determined to find opportunities for producers to gain premiums and increase transparency in the sector. Howard's vision is to "leave the cattle industry in a better position than he found it". 

Howard also operates a breeding, fattening and trading beef operation with his family in Rolleston, Central Queensland. To find out more about Howard please view the video below.

Cattle Council's 2018 AGM will commence at 8am, Tuesday 20 November, in Ballroom 1, Level 1, Hotel Realm, Canberra, ACT. Nominations for the independent positions on the Cattle Council of Australia board are due by 5pm, Friday 12 October 2018.
